The Temperature / Actuator Module accessory adds three distinct features to Event Detector testing:

Temperature Module Function
The Temperature / Actuator Module adds temperature data to the event/failure data record produced by WinDatalog Software. The chamber or oven temperature is monitored and included in the test data when events are detected. The combination of event and temperature data facilitates the correlation of temperature and peak failure-stresses. In addition, the actual elapsed thermal cycle count is also recorded for accurate failure analysis statistics. The Temperature / Actuator Module uses a type-T thermocouple and has an accuracy of ± 1°C.

Mechanical Cycle Counting Function
The Temperature / Actuator Module can also be configured to count and record digital electrical signals. Some examples include contact closures on drop-testers or mechanical board-benders, mate-unmate actuation for separable connector testing, or other digital signals from accessory equipment. This feature facilitates event-data analysis that is accurately keyed to the mechanical-cycles-to-failure.

Actuator Module Function
The Temperature / Actuator Module permits WinDatalog Software to synchronize laboratory test equipment with event data collection by initiating test equipment cycles under software control. This capability ensures exact and continuous synchronization of data collection and test cycling. The output from the module can be used to operate board benders, thermal cycling chambers, or mechanical mating/unmating hardware for connector testing. The Temperature / Actuator Module electrical output toggles in response to serial commands sent by WinDatalog Software control. User-programmable output configurations include normally-open (NO) and normally-closed (NC) contact closures, +5 V and +12 V logic signals (with compliments), and an AC relay output.

With the Temperature / Actuator Module, data collection and accessory equipment actuation are completely synchronized by the data collection PC. When a Temperature / Actuator Module is not used, a total loss of data synchronization will result after only a few hundred cycles since the PC clock and the equipment timer will never be perfectly aligned.

The Temperature / Actuator Module is housed in a book-sized chassis and is 120 VAC powered (or 220VAC upon request). A standard type-T thermocouple jack is provided as well as a serial cable for connecting the Temperature / Actuator Module to PC compatible computer running WinDatalog software. The PC requires a second serial port for the Temperature Module / Actuator in additional to the other requirements of WinDatalog software.
